-important to your eStrategy is to make sure people can find you on the Web
-75% of internet users go to search engines after logging on
-Wired magazine (Jan 2003 issue) estimated that of the 428 million unique searches done each day, Google processes 4 or 5 or 80% of them
-in the past it was possible to get the attention of the search engines and achieve a higher ranking by inserting a long string of keywords into a web page
-this was referred to as stuffing or spamdexing
-if you are caught doing this, google will blacklist your url
-successful search optimization req good website design…making sure that your Web-page content contains all of your keyword phrases is a critical step
-create a sitemap to help guide spiders to your pages
-Google applies weighting factor based on the number of quality links pointed back to your url
-write good meta descriptions bc this is usually what is displayed in search results
-most importanlty, write good meta titles
